The Transition Year (TY) is designed to act as a bridge between the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate programmes and to give students the time and opportunity to try non-school based experiences, whether that be a work-experience placement, helping a local charity, working on a long term business or art project or to send time studying abroad.

CSS Valencia offers study programmes specifically for Irish secondary school students, giving them the opportunity of spending a periods of time from 4 weeks up to a whole acacdemic year fully immersed in the culture of Spain, all the time having the support of CSS Valencia staff.

This programme is especially suitable for TY students, although students from across the secondary school education cycle can benefit from 100% immersion in a Spanish speaking envronment.

Our students live with a Spanish family and attend a local secondary school in Valencia, Spain, together with the children of their host family. They get to experience Spanish culture from the perspective of within a family and also have the huge benefit of a 24 hour environment in which they can make huge progress on their language skills. A CSS Valencia tutor spends time with the programme participants every week to work and support them in the language learning.
