CSS will also have a representative on the flight who will act as a group leader for students who make individual bookings (i.e. not as part of a school group).

Accommodation and host families

Your accommodation is a really important part of your experience when studying here in Valencia. The best way to truly experience local culture and Spanish hospitality is to stay with our trusted host families. Therefore, we have two members of staff dedicated to visiting and ensuring the quality of our homestays. Their primary objective is to make your stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible.

We only use host family accommodation that is either directly in the area near the school or conveniently connected via public transport. In addition, CSS strives to build strong relationships within the community and with all our host families.

All host families are vetted by the Spanish police (similar to the Garda vetting procedure in Ireland).

Host family accommodation

Full board is provided with breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal with an emphasis on a nutritious Mediterranean diet. It is important to us that students at CSS become members of the family during their stay. We want you to fit into normal family life here in Spain. We are confident this aspect of the course will be very beneficial in terms of language learning and cultural awareness. CSS Valencia ensures that all host families have internet so you can stay connected with family members back in Ireland during your stay. Valencian people are famous for their warm welcoming nature and genuine hospitality.

Culture and activities

At CSS we understand that learning needs to be fun. We believe that the best way to learn is by having exposure to Spanish both inside and outside the classroom. Therefore, we have designed a course which includes an action packed afternoon and evening activity programme. All of our activities are conducted through Spanish. These activities include a combination of cultural, sports and leisure activities.

Activities normally take place after the conversation classes in the afternoon. Students visit cultural exhibitions showcasing vibrant Spanish festivals and traditions. In addition, students also take part in sports, do arts and crafts, or watch a Spanish film. Sports usually take place on the beach and consist of volleyball, football and swimming, among others. However, activities are not organised for Friday afternoons. This gives students some free time to do as they wish.

We organise a full day excursion every Saturday.

We believe it’s important that our Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Spanish summer courses in Spain need to have an important cultural aspect. In that way, you get to experience and appreciate this great culture.
