After classes in AIP we went to a nearby village called Alboraya. This is Carla’s hometown and she showed us the new development of Port Splaya, located on the coast beside a wonderful beach. Port Splaya is the Little Venice of Valencia with the buildings resembling those in Venice and canals which provide a harbour for boats coming in from the Mediterranean.
Here also we got to try “horchata con fartons”, a speciality of Valencia and specifically from Alboraya. Horchata is a type of sweet almond milk especially produced in Alboraya from the ‘chufa’ nut. We dipped the fartons (a type of light pastry/bread) into the horchata before eating it for a wonderful combination. After that we took some time out on the beach. Then it was home to the familia for dinner.
