We woke up early to get to the Language School called AIP where we sat an entrance exam to determine what class we would be in and our level of Spanish. Our host families brought us into the school this morning to make sure we all knew the way. I already knew my way from being here last year but the others were happy to be shown the way for the first time.
After the entrance exam, we were assigned a class. Some of us are in the same class, but we are mixed with other students of different nationalities too. We got two short breaks during the morning classes followed by lunch after the classes ended at 1pm. We all had a packed lunch from our families. Vero and Alba met us at the school, seeing as it was our first day, and they brought us to a park where we chatted and ate our lunch. Gemma, Vero and Alba were asking us about our host families and how we were settling in and everyone seemed quite happy with their families and their accommodation.
Afterwards, we all headed into the city centre with Alba and Vero for a walking tour of the city. Myself and Gemma had done this last year but we were more than happy to see the city centre again. We climbed the 200+ steps to the top of the “Miguelete”, which is the tower on the top of the Cathedral in Valencia. We took some photos and enjoyed the view of the city. Soon after, we got ice-cream in one of the nicest ice-cream parlours in the city. They do all kinds of ice cream flavours but I stuck with the safer option of Kinder Bueno flavour!! It was so good!! Or as they say here “estaba bueno”. We then saw some other sites such as the town hall, the bull ring, and the main train station (Estación Del Nord). We also had time to look in some shops, one of the coolest shops here is ‘Ale-Hop’ where you can buy all sorts of mad trinkets and things! Gemma bought some fridge magnets with Spanish sayings on them…hopefully I’ll have figured out what they mean by the end of my stay here! We were wrecked after the late night and the walking but we had a great time! We had dinner with our families and went straight to bed.
