Our June course has just come to an end, we cannot believe how quickly the 3 weeks have passed!
Week one was spent settling into the routine of living with Spanish host families and becoming familiar with the course timetable. Teachers Jaime, Alba, Patricia quickly set to work organising the 5th year students into class groups, while Anahí and Celia took charge of the 2nd and 4th year students. All teachers reported the high level of Spanish amongst the students and their enthusiasm to learn.
Afternoons were spent with our monitors Ian Carlos, Ruben and Carlos during the first week taking tours of the city on foot and by bicycle, partaking in drama and art classes, finishing off with a day long excursion to ‘Albufera’ home of Valencia Paella.
During the second week, classes were gaining intensity with the students partaking in group debates, presentations and even learning Spanish pop songs. Along with summer afternoons at the beach, students learned how to cook a traditional Valencia Paella, engaged in a language exchange at a local secondary school and enjoyed a trip to Terra Mitica theme park.
Suddenly the last week was upon us, which was full of excitement to be heading back to Ireland but also sadness leaving new friends and of course Valencia. We celebrated the last day with morning presentation of certificates, a video with highlights of the course and an afternoon trip on a catamaran around the marina of Valencia.
Congratulations to all our students on completing the course & we wish you a wonderful summer!
