We had the option of going to the ‘Mestalla’, which is the official football stadium of the Valencian Football Club. I had been there last year and although it was good, I decided that I didn’t need to see it again and instead, enjoyed some free time in the evening.
Leena decided to go and see it and she said it was really good! The rest of the girls went shopping for the evening as in July here in Spain there are amazing ‘rebajas’ or ‘sales’! They were able to get lots of nice things for very reasonable prices. I didn’t fancy shopping so I went for lunch with some of my other friends here. We went to ‘The Good Burger’, which is a restaurant, kind of a cross between Eddie Rockets and Burger King, although it is a bit healthier than Burger King! Later, I met up with Gemma who was enjoying the sales in the city centre. We went to ‘Valor’ which is a very popular café here in Spain, famous for its Churros con Chocolate, so of course we had to get Churros and chocolate! This is a must when you are in Spain! Maybe not every day but at least once! I got the white chocolate and Gemma got the dark chocolate and we shared a portion of Churros. They were delicious!
We strolled towards the old centre where there is a pedestrianised square with a beautiful fountain, the Cathedral and some cafes, so we stopped for a refreshment and to take in the atmosphere. While we were there, we got serenaded by some local Spanish singers! They were female students looking to raise some money and they were holding miniature guitars…I have to say I was quite shocked when they started singing…they were actually really good!! We gave them some change for their excellent effort! Our parents arrived in Valencia tonight so we met up with them, but only for a little while because it was pretty late. We showed them the fair ground in the old riverbed park which is part of the Feria, an event taking place here at the moment. Iseult, Ione and Andrea also went to the Feria fair ground with their Spanish families tonight and they had a great time! They chatted in Spanish to their host families and enjoyed the festivities!
