After the regular classes this morning, the students had the extra class with Ana focusing on oral work. They went through their daily routine and some great phrases that will be very handy for the Junior and Leaving Certificate orals.
The activity today was sailing and paddle surfing in a place called Port Saplaya. Port Saplaya is a town outside of Valencia which is also known as Little Venice as many of the buildings resemble those of Venice. It’s a very picturesque place and it also has a beautiful beach and swimming pool available to the public. There’s also a very traditional horchateria there (a place which sells horchata, a Valencian drink made from almonds)
Before any sailing, we went to get ice cream – a staple food in weather like this!
Daisy, Daniel and Abby were in the first group to head off in sailboats, while the rest of us were given free time to lie on the beach or go to the swimming pool. When the sailboats sailed out a bit they were given the chance to go paddle surfing, so the 3 guys showed off their skills from last week’s lesson.
After a few hours out at sea, everyone returned to land and we headed back to the city for a relaxing evening with the host families.
