After the classes this morning, our activities started straight away at 1 pm. We were taken to a local restaurant where we were each given a plate of traditional Valencian paella. It was a new experience for Abby as she had never tried paella before. She tried some of Daisy’s and agreed it was very tasty. We were all stuffed and had about an hour to relax before the second part of the day’s activities.
We were told we would be doing a yincana (gymkhana). Like the others, I had no idea what this was going to be. We were split up into groups and I was with Daniel and Aoibhín. The aim of it was to head into the city centre and locate some famous sites and take selfies with them and answer questions about them. We were given 2 hours to locate 7 sites and complete tasks to do with each of them. Aoibhín was appointed as our official selfie taker while I took control of the directions. Any form of GPS or maps were not permitted, we were only allowed to ask the locals where to go.
We got off to a bit of a slow start but eventually we found our first site La Plaza de La Virgen. We took a selfie with the statue and took a picture of the inscription on the ground.
After 2 hours we were exhasuted after rushing around in the heat. Our answers and selfies were taken and we will be finding out the results on Friday.
