Today after the oral class with Ana, we went on the bus back to La Pobla de Farnals where we did the paddle surfing last week. David’s parents are over to see Valencia for a few days so he decided to go and spend time with them instead of the surfing.
When we arrived at the surfing we had a new instructor this week – Juan – and instead of paddle surfing, he was teaching us how to do proper surfing on smaller boards. We were each given a board but before anything, we had to do our calentamiento (warm-up). This involved a series of exercises that involved loosening up our bodies and in particular our shoulders as they are most important when it comes to surfing.
We were then ready to hit the water. We first started on a part of the beach where there were no waves but when we were all ¨proffesionals¨ we moved to more choppier water and practised standing up on the boards and the correct technique to use while doing so. After a few hours of catching waves, we were all exhausted and couldn’t feel our arms after paddling so much. We headed back for the bus and got it just in time.
